Research on tracing the fate of triclosan in the environment. We focus on how triclosan in water can contaminate soil and crops and the effect of triclosan on microbes.

Our main focus is to provide information and research tracing the fate of triclosan. As triclosan is used in household and personal products (toothpaste, antibacterial cutting boards, cosmetics, etc.), it washes down the drain and into our sewage syste
After our sewage is treated in a wastewater treatment plant, triclosan is discharged into freshwater streams. Treated wastewater can also contain other pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) that are released into streams and rivers. Sometimes, the treated wastewater is used to irrigate crops (recycled water) or in some regions, these recharged streams are used used to irrigate crops, which is our main focus of research.
